This June, we had the pleasure of hosting Josiah Redburg, a talented and enthusiastic intern who joined our team at Haven Design Workshop. Josiah impressed us with his skills, creativity, and personality. In this blog post, we want to share some of the highlights of his internship and how he contributed to our projects and culture.
At the onset of summer, Josiah embarked on his journey with us by immersing himself in our company’s ethos and operations. He became a regular participant in our weekly meetings and engaged in design dialogues, gaining insights into our methodologies, approaches, and client base. His role soon expanded to include contributions to our outreach and recruitment efforts, where he reviewed resumes and portfolios of prospective hires. Through this process, Josiah observed the diverse manners in which individuals express their values and identities, fostering his appreciation for the perspectives, experiences, and paths to professionalism in our field.
Josiah’s was next assigned to tackle a design assignment for promotional materials. Tasked with creating flyers, brochures, and yard signs to represent our array of projects, he approached this challenge with zeal, producing exceptional designs that resonated with our aesthetic and vision. His presentations to the team not only showcased his designs but also highlighted his adeptness in communication and presentation, garnering valuable feedback.
Beyond his professional contributions, Josiah worked to forge personal connections with his colleagues. He was a familiar face at lunch breaks, social hours, and pickleball games, sharing his passions, pastimes, and anecdotes while embracing those of others. He became a valued part of our community.
As summer advanced, Josiah’s responsibilities and engagement with our projects deepened. He played a pivotal role in developing internal systems and databases that enhanced our organizational efficiency. He led an initiative to gather and analyze regional market data, culminating in a report that he presented to our team.
Josiah also honed his design acumen through hands-on experience with foundational design tasks. He diligently crafted sketches, models, renderings, and diagrams for various small projects, further refining his skills in the discipline.
Josiah’s internship was a period of significant growth and team-building. His work has greatly benefited our projects and team atmosphere. As we look ahead, we’re excited to meet the next group of interns.
